Online social media’s the rage. Facebook this. Twitter that. The new cyberspace is like a baby in diapers trying to break out of her crib into adulthood. No wonder there’s so much awkward communication and unintentional (sometimes) spamming on the web.

Everybody wants the secret to massive online traffic. Most are wannabes who don’t see the secret right under their noses. A few people get it right. They’re the leaders who understand that success on the Internet is based on RELATIONSHIP BUILDING. An effective blog comment can foster strong lasting relationships that help you create wealth.

The cardinal rule when leaving a comment on someone’s blog is: You Gotta Give To Get. That means you put the spotlight on the person who owns the blog. She’s the host. You’re a guest. A gracious guest shows gratitude for the host’s generosity and knowledge.

ANATOMY OF A GREAT BLOG COMMENT

Edify Your Host
Your intention when you comment on a post that you enjoy is to let your host and other visitors know what value you find there. Your comment should say more than, “Thank you.” It should encourage other visitors to read the blog post. It should highlight the major benefit they’ll get from it.

I’ve had comments like, “Great site, Louis.” I appreciate the compliment. But the comment does not embrace my other visitors. It doesn’t excite them about anything in particular. An effective comment might say, “Great site, Louis. You give valuable tips on how to become an MLM leader that people want to follow.” Those words edify me, and they invite other Network Marketers to devour my content.

Stand Strongly In The Background
Some blog comments are nothing more than grandstanding. They shine the spotlight on the person leaving the comment and push the host into a dark corner. The blatant self-promotion comment reads like this: “Thanks for the great post. As a highly successful Network Marketer, I believe in strong leadership too. You’ll find valuable tips on how to explode your business at www.mememe.com.”

That motivates me to click Delete. You’ll gain real leverage when you disappear into the background and shine the bright light of your blog comment on your host.

Viral Generosity
Here’s what happens when you craft a thoughtful comment that elevates your host, invites others to visit the blog, and leaves you out of the picture. It creates a powerful field of MAGNETIC ATTRACTION that pulls traffic in your direction. Your generous blog comment reveals that you appreciate value. It positions you as a person who has her own value to contribute. It tells other visitors that you are a person they can like and trust.

What happens when people like and trust you? Bingo! They seek you out to do business with you. Everybody wins.

EDUCATE & ENCOURAGE YOUR VISITORS

Don’t assume that people know how to comment on your blog posts. It’s your job as a leader to guide them and teach them. Otherwise, they’ll say something stupid, and you’ll have to whack ‘em. Another thing. Let them know that you’re interested in what their blogs have to offer, and that you will visit their sites to learn new things and to promote their content.

Uncommon Common Sense
Much of this may sound like common sense. I thought it was until I saw how many people squandered the relationship building and money making potential of their blog comments.

So, take this tip from the MLM Mobster. Massage their backs, and they’ll massage yours. Massage enough people, and you’ll start making offers they can’t refuse. My back would love some love right now. What about yours?

What is the Opposition phase? It’s the time when only the people with vision and courage commit their energy and belief to an opportunity like MLM.

Let’s look at history to get a clear picture of this. People once believed that the earth was the center of the universe. When Copernicus and Galileo challenged that belief, all hell broke loose. Galileo almost lost his life. Society was terrified of CHANGE. They reacted with violent opposition. We could say that he was an outlaw. He certainly wasn’t popular. Of course, he held his ground, and his belief prevailed. Today it is SELF EVIDENT that the sun is the center of the universe, and that the earth revolves around it.

Now, let’s jump into the 20th century. In the 1950’s a new business model was going through birth pains. It was called the Franchise. It was a new concept, and like anything new, it encountered powerful opposition. Most people don’t know that franchises were called scams, and that they were only eleven votes away from being totally outlawed in the United States. Today, franchises account for 1/3 of the U.S’s Gross National Product, and people rush to fork over a million dollars or more to open their own McDonald’s franchise. The concept is SELF EVIDENT.

Now here’s the good and the bad news. It’s great news for those of you who are already fully committed to a Network Marketing career. Yes, friends and family will oppose you. Some people will block your phone number. Others will wear garlic and a cross before they approach you. That’s their problem. You are on the road to freedom. You are creating a lifestyle that most people won’t even dare to dream about.

The bad news is for those of you on the sidelines waiting for someone to bless MLM. You’re waiting for the media to sing the industry’s praises, and for your family to tell you that you’ve made a smart choice by enrolling in a Network Marketing company. It’s also bad news for those of you who have dipped one toe into the MLM stream. You know who you are. You’re the polite ones who hesitate to mention your opportunity to people, or you do so with a hint of apology. It’s really bad news for the naysayers who scoff at what they perceive as “pyramid schemes.”

The bad news people are on a collision course with REGRET. They”ll wake up in the Self Evident phase when Network Marketing is completely mainstream. People won’t be asking, “Are you in one of those?” Their question will be, “Which company are you with?” That’s the day when all the critics will rush to sign up for their ticket to independence and wealth. Oh, they will still be able to buy one. But at what price? They will be like those who rush to buy real estate when the market has peaked. They will have to huff, puff, and scramble in a desperate attempt to catch up with the “outlaws” who had the guts to start building their empires during the Opposition stage.

Are you honest and courageous enough to seize your dream? If you’re willing to live outside the law, your answer is, “Yes!”

You all start with the same three ELEMENTS in every MLM company. The first two are constants. Every distributor has the same product or service to offer. Everyone has the same opportunity (training, compensation plan, territory). Still, some people will earn $100,000 a month; some will struggle with $100; others will lose money. Why? Because the only variable is YOU.

What can you do about that variable? A lot. You can believe that the highly successful people are more gifted, lucky, or smarter than you. You can believe that nonsense if you choose to be a victim. Or, you can take 100% responsibility for your success. You can crush every obstacle, remove every perceived limitation, and step into your leadership. How? By cultivating the three QUALITIES and respecting the three KEYS.

The first quality is desire. I think it’s the most important. Without it, you are running on empty. I’m not talking about some lame “I wanna be rich” statement. Any civilian can mutter those words. Most of them do. When you step into Network Marketing, you’re joining THE LIFE! The stakes are very high in this game. Desire has to be a raging fire in your belly. You’ve gotta stoke its flames and stand in their heat.

The embers of desire burn in everyone. You spark them into flame by discovering your WHY. You’ll know you’ve found it when you’re willing to crawl on broken glass to achieve it. As a leader, you should definitely look for intense desire in the people you bring into your team.

The second quality is the willingness to work. That means you will play at 100% for very little pay to eventually earn obscene amounts of money for very little work. How long will play for chump change? As long as it takes to hit the jackpot. Develop this quality in yourself, and your more likely to attract it in other people. If you consistently attract people with a lottery mindset, take a cold hard look at your own willingness to work.

Are you teachable? That’s the million dollar question. The unwillingness to follow systems and become a team player whacks more dreams in MLM than I care to mention. When I was a new soldier, I wasted a lot of psychic energy on people who insisted on “doing it their way.” When I made my bones and climbed the ladder of success, I kicked the solo players out of my crew.

Okay, so what are the KEYS to the kingdom? The first one is excitement. You’ve got to get excited about your opportunity and what it means to your life. How excited? Like an eight year old at a surprise party that doesn’t end. Most people settle for tiny lives that they would never choose if they believed they had a choice. Network Marketers have the courage to awaken and pursue big dreams. Are you willing to be a big dreamer?

The second golden key is attention. You must train yourself to pay attention to the people who are achieving the results that you want in your life. And, you must consistently model them. That means not paying attention to the naysayers who will suffocate your dreams with fear. Unfortunately, the people you know and love will often persuade you to play small. As a rule, you should disregard the message if the messenger has not achieved the enormous success that you long for in your heart. The final important key is tenacity. In other words, NEVER QUIT. That’s easy to say and believe when things are going well. The real test of your tenacity comes when success seems impossible. Can you ignite a burning desire that casts a light of hope on the darkest path? As one of my great mentors says, “Be willing to do what others won’t, so you can have what others can’t.  He’s 82 years old. He has created a $20,000,00 fortune in eight years. He started when he was 74. His achievement laughs in the face of any excuse for failure. Now that you’ve read this, success is your only option.
