Soft skills. What are they, and how do you get ‘em? Stick around and find out.
Reflection (15 to 20 minutes daily of quite solitary time).
The lack of soft skills is a big reason for so much MLM roadkill. Everybody wants the hard skills, the nuts and bolts, the secret HOW TO manual. But here’s the thing. The how to ain’t gonna work without a powerful WHY TO. That’s where soft skills come in.
Soft skills are all about your inner game. What’s going on inside your head? What thoughts do you entertain, nurture, and expand? What does your inner dialogue sound like?
There’s nothing original about what I just wrote. You’re familiar with this. So what am I padding this blog post? No way! I’m reminding you of important stuff that we all know, and we all forget.
It’s easy to take your eyes off the intangibles. It’s easy to nod your head in recognition when you read these words and totally miss their underlying meaning. The meaning that you can only feel in your guts.
Here’s the lowdown on soft skills in Network Marketing. I got this last week in a live workshop from MLM legend, Jerry D’Rhino Clark.
Jerry teaches people to master the Productivity Triangle before they learn how to approach strangers, prospect on the phone, or overcome objections. Those are hard skills. They won’t work without a rock solid inner foundation.
The three pillars of the Productivity Triangle are:
* Consolidation of Power (things like focus & confidence)
* Commitment to Discipline (Consistency, Prioritizing)
* Clarity
One way to build an unshakable Productivity Triangle is to do a 30 DAY MENTAL FAST. It consists of 8 steps:
1) Read inspiring material 15 to 20 minutes a day.
2) Stop watching TV.
3) Replace radio with select audio listening on CD.
4) Don’t read newspapers (It’s not news; it’s sensational negative energy).
5) Only associate with like-minded people.
6) Drink lots of water (Dehydration weakens your body & mind).
7) Exercise daily (a brisk walk will do).
Add these 3 steps to the list, and you’ll become unstoppable:
1) Don’t blame (Yeah, even if somebody cuts you off in traffic).
2) Don’t complain (Not even quietly to yourself. Oo, that’s a tough one).
3) Don’t explain (“I was late because…”) Take full responsibility for everything.
Maybe you’re still not convinced about the importance of inner work. You just want to know the right words to say when you present your opportunity. Well, try saying the right words when you harbor self doubt. Try saying the right words when you’re not fully convinced that Network Marketing is a noble industry.
People don’t respond to your words. They respond to your vibrational energy. You can’t fake that.
Get passionate about your inner game. Master your soft skills. Then, and only then, you’ll make offers they can’t refuse.
